Engineering Industries calls on the Egyptian government to stop the export of copper ore and scrap

The Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries addressed all concerned authorities to stop the export of copper and scrap.

The head of the chamber, Mohammed al-Mohandes, called for increased customs control to fill gaps that hinder the availability of these raw materials and negatively affect industries related to copper ore, especially because they are labor-intensive industries.

The engineer told Middle East News Agency that the Chamber is receiving a number of complaints from manufacturers stating that there is a severe shortage of raw materials for local factories, which impedes their ability to operate.

He pointed out that the most important of these factories sanitary ware, mixers, household utensils, Najaf and other industries important to the sector.

The engineer stressed the importance of resolving the crisis by stopping the export of these raw materials and re-manufacturing and exporting them in the form of a final product, which will contribute to increase the dollar proceeds of the state treasury, as well as a positive reflection on the final product price of the consumer.
