Rolls-Royce cuts 9,000 jobs amid air transport collapse

Rolls-Royce plans to cut about 9,000 jobs, in an effort to adapt to the affected aviation market situation due to the fallout from the Corona virus.

The British company operating in the aviation sector, which supplies large aircraft engines, said in a statement on Wednesday that the loss of jobs will mainly affect the civil aviation business unit, in addition to the central support functions.

The British company explained that the move would help it achieve an annual cost savings of 1.3 billion pounds (1.59 billion dollars), with costs of a cash restructuring of about 800 million pounds.
